Thank you card for Christmas goodies

This is the thank you note I have sent to family and friends for all their kindness at Christmas.  I wanted a soft vintage look to it and I am quite pleased with how it has turned out.  I used some of my Christmas goodies to make it - noteably a Big Shot (yay) and a top note die (yay again).  My Cuttlebug has served me well but does not take the larger Sizzix dies so it was time to upgrade.

Supplies:
Paper - cream marle c/s from stash
Stamp - "kindness matters" from SU
Ink - crumb cake and kiwi kiss from SU, Blush blossom marker from SU, Tombow #370 marker
Tools - Big Shot, top note die by Sizzix for SU, K-Kingdom "dahlia swirl" embossing folder

Well the weather has been mild and NOT raining here since Christmas (wild dancing).  Such a change from before the big day when it rained non-stop.  Still not hot though - but I can live with that! Off to visit my mum over the new year weekend so I won't be posting til the 2nd.  Scrapturday will resume the following weekend and boy do I have some scraps to use up!!  Let's hope the creative genie doesn't refuse to come out!!  Happy New Year to you all - hope you get a kiss from a loved one at midnight.

Happy crafting!

Merry Christmas

Last Christmas card for this year,. Thought it was appropriate to feature jolly old St. Nick himself.  We had a lovely Christmas day with warm weather - no rain - and a light breeze.  Couldn't have asked for better.  For once the weather forecasters were wrong!!

Supplies:
Paper - red textured c/s from stash, "25 days of Christmas" DSP from Simple Stories
Other - gold rhinestones from Kaisercraft
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

I was totally spoiled today with crafting goodies, Michael Buble and an enviro coffee mug with a purple lid (fave colour).  Lots of chocolates and some cookbooks too.  Last two not so good for my attempts for a smaller waistline!!  Hope you were all spoiled too.

Happy crafting!

Be merry again

Here's a trio of "be merry" cards.  All landscape I notice.  I seem to be making a lot of landscape oriented cards lately - wonder what that's about - maybe I secretly want to travel!  Not so secret actually.  The best I will be able to do is a little trip to Newcastle to see my mum and sister.  Fun anyway.

On to the cards.  They all use the 6 x 6 pad "be merry" from Kaisercraft. Die cuts included.

1.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and lucky limeade c/s from SU, "be merry" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - light green rhinestones from Kaisercraft
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

2.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and poppy parade c/s from SU, "be merry" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - pear pizzazz seam binding from SU
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals, glue dots

3.

Supplies:
Paper - crumb cake and lucky limeade c/s from SU, "be merry" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - pear pizzazz seam binding from SU
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, glue dots

Only 3 more sleeps to go!  It's raining again here - not our usual summer weather at all.  Apparently it's because of a weather pattern called La Nina and we are going to have a cool wet summer.  It's even going to rain on Christmas day!  That will put an end to a lot of beach parties.  Hope the weather is fair where you are.

Happy crafting!

Silly Season

Today's effort comes to you courtesy of Kaisercraft "silly season".  The photo doesn't really show it but the dots are foil and deliciously shiny.

Supplies:
Paper - red textured c/s from stash, lucky limeade c/s from SU, "silly season" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - pear pizzazz seam binding from SU, holly buttons and red button from stash
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, glue dots

This one went to my son's girlfriend.  Hope she likes it!  Just have the last minute grocery shop to do now  - and that can't happen til saturday - so I can officially relax til Christmas eve.  The children are having breakfast at home on Christmas day then going over to spend Christmas lunch and dinner with their dad so I am going to rent the schmalziest movies I can and indulge! With some delicious prawns and a mango daquiri or two. Hope all your Christmas preparations are going smoothly.

Happy crafting!

We are having a bon bon (christmas crackers) making day today.  My daughter has sourced some suitably corny jokes and funny little bits to go in as prizes so its "paper away"!

I have 2 cards for you today - both featuring "be merry" paper from Kaisercraft. The 6 x 6 pads are so great with all the co-ordinating papers and die cuts.  They make card making very quick and stress free. (that's my little ad for the day!!) LOL.

We had our Scrap and stamp club Christmas party yesterday and it was lots of fun. Karen had organised a Kris Kringle and also had prizes for some games that we played and of course we had lots of yummy food and her deadly punch.  We all went home with some new crafting goodies and a special glow (courtesy of the punch!!).  Finishing off my Christmas cards today so they can go in the post tomorrow - late I know but I am hopeful that they will all arrive on time.

Holly jolly Christmas #2

Short post today as recovering from a sick day.  Another Holly Jolly Christmas card.  A CAS effort with just simple layering and bit of embellishment. I cut the shank off the snowflake buttons with a craft knife.

Supplies:
Paper - pink pirouette and marina mist c/s from SU, "holly jolly Christmas" DSP from Echo Park
Other - snowflake buttons from stash
Adhesive - snail, glue dots

It's our Scrap club Christmas party today - really looking forward to it.  I have missed the last two card classes and scrap club due to illness  - boring.  We are having a crafty kris kringle - do love a pressie.  My daughter is looking forward to it too.  Scrap club is our mum/daughter time - an activity we can share. Scrap club is run by PaperLady (see side bar for link to info).  Have a great weekend.

Holly jolly Christmas #1

My daughter gave me this 6 x 6 pad as an early present and I have really enjoyed using it!  It's by Echo Park and the colours are an interesting mix of traditional and non-traditional.  Quite retro in some ways.  Fun to use.  The top layer is matted and popped and highlighted with Kindyglitz.

Supplies:
Paper - red textured c/s from stash, "holly jolly christmas" DSP from Echo Park
Other - Kindyglitz "crystalina"
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

My son got his final year results yesterday and he did really well.  In the top 10% of the state for two subjects and in the next 10% for the others. It wasn't quite enough for him to get straight into the university course he was hoping for but there are always the second round offers and the option of transferring.  He's a bit disappointed but his ranking was in the top 20% of the state so I am very proud of him.(Would be anyway - I'm his mum!!)  My daughter got her results for her end of junior school and also did well.  Proud of my munchkins.  They worked hard and deserved their results.  They are much more mature than I was at the same age!

Hope your kidlets did well and all have a good holiday.

Happy crafting!

Black and White Christmas

I did these  5 cards some time ago but didn't get around to posting them when I made them.  Some of them have since sold (there were 10 to start with) but these are being used for my Christmas card list!  They all use Kaisercraft rub-ons and various red ribbons.  I challenged myself to "Keep it Simple" (KISS)  or in card makers lingo CAS (Clean and Simple)  I am pleased with the outcome.  What do you think?

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

Supplies: (all cards)
Paper - whisper white from SU
Other - Kaisercraft rub-ons - various christmas themed ones from last year., red ribbons from stash
Adhesive - sticky strip

I have started writing my cards and as usual have discovered about 10 people that I left off my original list (done without my address book!! - silly me!). So back to the desk to make some more. I could moan about it but I would be lying as I really enjoy it!  We had our Christmas BBQ on the weekend and fun was had by all -  but it was squishy fun as we all had to cram into the house as the weather would not behave.  We've had a good trot the last couple of years so I guess we were due for a rainy one!  Hope the weather is good where you are.

Scrapturday #3

Better late than never I say.  Sorry this is so late but I have been a bit under the weather and my bed was far more attractive than the computer!! (Guess I am not a total tech addict yet!!)  Today's Scrapturday effort uses left-overs from my latest Christmas card creations. (A future post).  The buttons are random ones from my collection - which is getting a big clean out come the New Year!

Supplies:
Paper - lucky limeade c/s from SU, "be merry" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - buttons from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, glue dots

Hope you are having a good week.

Jolly Bingo Bits

As soon as I saw this set in the new catalogue from SU I knew I had to have it!!  There are 24 stamps in the set and all are Christmas themed.  It's too cute for words!  Great for tags and cards alike.  SU also do a bingo card stamp so it could be a Christmas day game as well. Fun, fun, fun.
I stamped the images then fussy cut them and popped them up.  I topped them with a Kindyglitz bow to add my requisite sparkle!

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white, lucky limeade and ridinghood red c/s from SU, "be merry" DSP from Kaisercraft
Stamp - "jolly bingo bits" and "heard from the heart" (sentiment) from SU,  D394 pine branch from Hero Arts
Ink - old olive and poppy parade from SU
Other - "crystalina" Kindyglitz
Adhesive - snail, small foam dots

Had our last craft stall for the year today.  Luckily the weather held off but the crowds were down on last week so not as successful.  Swings and roundabouts I guess.  After a rest I am going to attack my Scrapturday challenge.  Post tomorrow ( very early - we have our Christmas BBQ tomorrow afternoon).  Enjoy your weekend.  Hope it incorporates some crafting time.

Happy crafting!

Bon Voyage

A friend asked me to make a Bon Voyage card for her mum who is going on a cruise around New Zealand and Australia and this is what I came up with.  I didn't have a bon voyage stamp but I thought happy was appropriate.  The paper is a 7 gypsies one called "global" and features lots of maps in antique tones.  I chose green and gold for the card because it toned with the DSP and also they are Autralia's national colours.

Supplies:
Paper - so saffron and old olive c/s from SU, 7 gypsies "global" DSP
Stamp - "so happy for you" from SU
Ink - old olive from SU
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals ( the middle australia is popped)

Off to do our last stall for the year tomorrow.  I do so hope it is successful!  The weather has been atrocious lately but there is supposed to be a low chance of rain tomorrow so I will keep my fingers crossed!  according to the long range forecast we are supposed to have heavy rain on Christmas day so I guess it will be a board games/ charades day rather than pool.  Either way I will love it!

Happy crafting!

Snowmen Christmas

Today's card uses a Bo Bunny 12 x 12 paper and simple matting.  A CAS card.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and cajun craze (not a colour I would usually associate with Christmas!!) from SU, Bo Bunny Christmas paper
Stamp - magazine freebie
Ink - cajun craze from SU
Tools - decorative label punch from SU
Other - marina mist ribbon from SU
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

The house is nearly finished vis a vis decorating - just the outside to go.  No work today though as very cold and rainy - NOT SUMMER - Boo Hiss!  Must start my Christmas shopping soon.  Have bought a few things ,and have some crafting to do, but still have some to do. I have exhaustive lists but usually forget them when I hit the shops!!  I am getting better at not being distracted by the new and shiny but we are talking a lifetime's obsession here!!

Happy crafting!

Scrapturday # 2

Welcome to the second edition of Scrapturday - my self-challenge to only use scraps to make a card (other than the base).  Today I used the wings left over from punching out some birds with the SU two step bird punch.  I used them to make a Christmas wreath!  The ribbon was also a scrap left over from another project.

Supplies:
Paper - poppy parade , whisper white and old olive c/s from SU
Stamp - a magazine freebie (no name that I can find)
Ink - poppy parade from SU
Tools - two step bird punch from SU
Other - ribbon from stash, Kaisercraft red rhinestones
Adhesive - snail, glue dots

Today was also market day.  It turned out to be a brilliantly sunny day - I got a little sunburnt!- and the customers were out in force.  A successful day.  Have a bit of re-stocking to do before next week so I am going to be busy!!  Enjoy your weekend.

Happy crafting!

Button star

This is not an original idea of mine but rather a CASE from the SU Idea book and Catalogue.  They show a starcovered with their buttons on a box and I liked it so I thought I would give it a go. Looking at it now I think the top point should have a couple more buttons!!  I hand drew a star and made a template then cut it out of white cardstock.  It's a very glue dot intensive project.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white, kiwi kiss (ret) and brushed gold from SU, red textured c/s from stash
Tools - Cuttlebug, "seasons greetings" embossing folder by Cuttlebug, small scallop scissors
Other - buttons from stash, red thread from stash, Kindyglitz "crystalina"
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, glue dots

The weather forecast for Saturday is for those scary words "clearing showers".  I hope they are all clear by 8 am!! It's an outdoor market - enough said!  Well our Christmas tree is up and we had the lights on for the first time last night - pretty. Our annual Christmas BBQ is in one week so the season has really started - Yay!

Happy crafting!

More dry embossing

Here are the rest of the cards (3) I made with my left over mirror board. I now have to get some more!  The ornament shape was punched out of the mirror board before embossing.

After a few warm days it's back to cold and rainy.  Better not be like this on Saturday!!! (market day) Am working on more paper ornaments.  There are so many beautiful ones out there in the blogosphere.  Am getting a Big Shot this week so will soon be able to make more 3-D items.  Very excited.  Will still use my trusty Cuttlebug (it has served me well) but it just can't handle the size of the bigger dies for 3-D items.

Happy crafting!

Dry Embossing

Scrapturday results

Here are the results of my first Scrapturday self challenge.  I was only allowed to use scraps to create the card (other than the card base). Definitely NO cutting into fresh stock.  The first is a male card and the second is a boy themed birthday card.

Supplies:
Paper - black c/s from stash, whisper white c/s from SU, "frightful sight" DSP from SU
Stamp - "bring on the cake" from SU
Ink - memento black, Tombow marker
Tools - Distressing kit from SU
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

This pirate card was made using scraps from a pirate themed paper pad from Spotlight.  It uses basic matting and fussy cutting.  The sentiment is popped.

Supplies:
Paper - black c/s from stash, cajun craze c/s from SU, pirate DSP from Spotlight
Stamp - "bring on the cake" from SU
Ink - cajun craze from SU
Other - black rhinestones from Kaisercraft
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

As promised - a look at Claudia's "fierce" bangles.  They are made from 9.5 cm squares of DSP, folded and assembled then glazed with crystal effects.  This makes them quite durable.  Not waterproof of course!

Supplies:
Left - "cottage garden"
Right - "urban garden"
Centre - "bella rose"
All discontinued DSP from SU but she has made them in many other types of paper and they all look great.

She has also re-sized them to make Christmas wreaths and ornaments.

We are putting up our Christmas tree today.  I like to have the house decorated by the 1st December so we have to start a few days earlier to get it all done! I am a total Christmas junkie.  Also have to get some more paper ornaments made for Karen and my stall on Saturday.  Hope we get a good spot!

Happy crafting!

Yay! my computer is fixxed

My good friend Fred came round yesterday and spent a couple of hours totally fixing my computer.  I now have even more memory than before!!  More downloads - yipee!  I am a total newby when it comes to electronics - the point and click kind!  If it's more complicated than that I can feel my heart starting to race and my blood pressure go up!  The kids are happy because I am not begging them for a turn on their laptops to check my emails so all in all we are a happy house again.

Today's card is one with the season and features some magazine freebie papers and a very old Hero arts stamp. The sentiment is highlighted with Kindyglitz and popped.

Supplies:
Paper -whisper white, poppy parade and lucky limeade c/s  from SU, magazine freebie DSP
Stamp - Hero arts (very old - talking 15 years at least!!)
Ink - memento black, old olive marker from SU, red Tombow marker
Other - Kindyglitz "crystalina", red check ribbon from stash
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

Have been busy making more Christmas cards and some male cards.  Have decided to make Saturdays - Scrapturday - and only use scraps to make cards on that day.  Had my first Scrapturday the one just passed but haven't photographed the card yet.  Hope to do it in the morning light tomorrow and will post straight away.  I hate throwing things away that "could" be used to make something but I realised that I was doing a lot of saving and not much creating!!  The other thing I will show you tomorrow are the fabulous "fierce" bangles my daughter has created for the December stall. All out of paper!!

Happy crafting!

computer disaster!!

Sorry I have not posted for a while but my hard drive has decided to collapse.  I have borrowed my daughter's laptop to post this but she is hovering for it back so short it must be.  Hopefully all will be back to normal next week!  In the meantime craft up a storm!

Ruffled ribbon

Just love, love, love this ruffled ribbon.  It came in a pack of bits and pieces and I am now resolved that I shall have to seek out some more. Ribbons add that special touch of luxeness to cards and out in the blogosphere I see so many beautiful ones that I desperately just want to own just for the sake of owning!  Don't have a project in mind  - am just wanting the beauty!  On to today's card.  Very simple with layering and matting and the sentiment is popped.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and lucky limeade from SU, magazine DSP
Stamp - Hero arts (very old)
Ink - memento black, old olive marker from SU, Tombow red marker
Other - ruffled ribbon from stash, Kindyglitz "crystalina"
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

Persevering with the paper ornaments and will have some suitable for posting next week.  (Have some now but the light is all wrong for photographing them!!)  The weekend is busy, busy with scrap club on Saturday and Sunday I have set aside for making our bon bons and orders of bon bons (Christmas crackers) for this Christmas.  It's a family affair with a bit of a production line happening.  It signals the start of our holiday season for my little family.  The fruit for the pudding and cake go on to soak in brandy this weekend too.  Can't have the fruit too sober now can we?

Happy crafting!

I'll be blue for Christmas

Silly title I know but I couldn't get my creative juices to work.  Anyway it's truthful about the colour featured!!
More magazine freebie paper and the beautiful colours available in SU cardstock.

Supplies:
Paper - bashful blue and old olive c/s from SU, magazine freebie DSP
Other - marina mist ribbon from SU
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip and glue dots

I am trying to make danish stars at the moment but they rather look like Ikea train wrecks! (different country I know but I hope you understand the image!!)  Perserverance is the key .  My daughter seems to be able to pick up and understand the most complicated origami instructions - I seem to be spatially dyslexic.  Maybe I am only meant to work in two dimensions!!

Back to Christmas

Back to Christmas today.  I am using up a little stash of some magazine freebie paper - can't even remember from which magazine.  Sorry!  It included some A5 papers and some trims (paper).  This card uses one of the papers and three of the scallop trims. Of course I had to use some Kindyglitz.

Supplies:
Paper - old olive and daffodil delight c/s from SU, magazine freebie DSP.
Other - green ribbon from stash, Kindyglitz "crystalina"
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip

More tomorrow. Hope to get started on some paper Christmas decorations tomorrow.
Did some Christmas shopping scouting today on Esty and am totally in awe of the beautiful things that people create.  We can be so wonderful and create such beauty and then the downside of our inhumanity to each other and other creatures reminds us that we aren't the total bees knees. Pity!  Let's keep striving for a more beautiful world on all levels.

Happy crafting!

It's supposed to be quite warm here today - 32 degrees C. Definitely an indoors day so I guess I will just have to craft! Ho hum (LOL).

Happy crafting!

Not quite Christmas tags

First up is a photo of Claudia on her way to Halloween.  Our cat Panther decided he wanted to come along too!
Next are some tags that could be Christmas but equally could not.  I used green and razzleberry and the same stamp set for all.  I hand coloured the stamps with markers, breathed on them and stamped.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white from SU and burgundy from stash, (topper) rich razzleberry from SU
Stamp - "circle circus" from SU
Ink - old olive marker from SU, Tombow marker
Tools - large scallop puch and small scallop punch from SU, 2mm punch (for around the edges of the large scallop) from Fiskars, top note die from SU (topper), Cuttlebug
Other - rich razzleberry spot ribbon from SU
Adhesive - snail

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and pear pizzaz from SU, (topper) old olive from SU
Stamp - "circle circus"  from SU
Ink - old olive marker from SU, Tombow marker
Tools - 1 3/8 " circle punch, small scallop punch, large scallop punch all from SU, 2mm hole punch from Fiskars, top note die from SU (topper), Cuttlebug
Other - white taffeta ribbon from SU
Adhesive - snail

This one used the decorative label punch. I punched the image then punched another label in the green.  This one I cut in half and trimmed the middle points then adhered to each end of the white label.  I then punched another label in white and adhered that to the back to cover the gap.  I sponged the edges of the white label in green.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and pear pizzaz from SU, (topper) old olive from SU
Stamp - "circle circus" from SU
Ink - old olive marker from SU, Tombow marker, pear pizzaz stamp pad from SU
Tools - large decorative label punch, sponge dauber , (topper) top note die from SU and Cuttlebug
Other - white taffeta ribbon from SU
Adhesive - snail

For the tying string on all tags I use a perle lace making cotton.  The small cellophane bags also come from SU.  They have medium and large ones too.

Happy crafting!

Tag mania!

I have been busy the last couple of weeks making lots of gift tags for our market stall. Here are some photos of some of them.  I have packaged them up in bundles of 5.  They are all hand coloured and decorated with Kindyglitz.

The stamps are from many different companies and the paper is from my stash for the red and whisper white from SU.  I used Tombow markers to colour.

Off to pack everything ready for the stall now.  Have a great weekend.

Happy crafting!
