Halloween

Happy Halloween to everyone!
My daughter's writing class is having a party tonight and they are all dressing up. I made these little tent fold cards for the stall on the weekend and my daughter requested some for her party. They hold a chocolate frog.  I also made her some matchboxes which we filled with m&ms for her school friends.  Didn't get to photograph those!

Supplies:
Paper - black c/s from stash, "frightful sight" DSP from SU, cajun craze c/s from SU ( for the pumpkin)
Stamp - retired pumpkin stamp from SU
Ink - memento black
Other -  letter stickers from stash, crystal effects (on the pumpkin)
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

Busy making more gift tags to replenish the "larder".

Happy crafting!

Oh Christmas tree....

Here's my sneakily reserved Christmas card. Layering, chalking and popped accents and the usual Kindyglitz make this Christmas tree!

Stamp - "snow swirled" and "season of joy" from SU
Ink - old olive and poppy parade from SU, yellow chalk

The stall yesterday was lots of fun and we got positive feedback on our efforts! Yay!  Two weeks til the next one so I have to get my skates on to restock!  Will keep posting though as have vowed not to take such a long break as I did last time.  Halloween cards tomorrow.

Oh Baby!

Two more baby cards for you today - in the interests of equality - one boy, one girl! Used the Kaisercraft "lullaby" again.  It includes a couple of pages of sentiment panels - very useful. It also includes a page of die cut borders that I have used on these cards.  Much the same design for both cards with the sentiment panels popped.  Once again the boy card looks lemon and blue but is really white and blue.  I don't think my camera likes blue!!

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and marina mist from SU, "lullaby" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - ribbon from stash
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and rose red from SU, "lullaby" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - ribbon from stash
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

No crafting today as it is stall day but I will be back tomorrow with the low down on the stall and a Christmas card I have sneakily kept in reserve!  Have a great weekend.

Happy crafting!

Ink - poppy parade from SU

It's a Boy/Girl!

Yes - another pair of baby cards for your perusal today.  I used the "lullaby" paper stack from Kaisercraft again.  It makes choosing papers to use very easy!  Very simple cards with the sentiment mounted and popped.

Girl version -

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and rose red c/s from SU, "lullaby" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - pale pink ribbon from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, glue dots (for ribbon)

Boy version -
Don't know why this looks so yellow.  Photographed on the same setting and time as the one above!  It's really white and blue.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white c/s from SU, "lullaby" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - spotty ribbon from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, glue dots (for the ribbon)

Only two more sleeps til the stall.  The vintage paper ornaments turned out to be too labour intensive to mass produce so I have moved on to other pastures!  Will post the one (note -  ONE) that I made next week.  Off to make some bookmarks now.  Enjoy your day.

Happy crafting!

Purple and gold Christmas

Love my purple I do. Today's card uses one of my favourite hues from SU called elegant eggplant.  It's a pretty self explanatory card so I will just hop straight to the supply list!

Supplies:
Paper - elegant eggplant and brushed gold c/s from SU, crushed gold paper from stash
Stamp - "delightful decorations" from SU
Ink - elegant eggplant from SU
Tools - ornament punch from SU, small scallop scissors
Other -  Kindyglitz "crystalina", dark purple rhinestones from Kaisercraft
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip (for the crushed gold as it is a little stiff), dimensionals (the ornaments are popped)

Today I am going to try my hand at some "vintage" style Christmas paper ornaments.  Wish me luck!!

Happy crafting!

Gift tag packaging

A quick post to show how I am packaging my gift tags for the Spring fair.  I have made a few different designs and sizes so hopefully there will be something for the mythical everyone!  The cellophane bags are the small size from SU and I have topped them with a piece of c/s cut with the top note Sizzix die from SU folded in half.  Double-sided tape is on each half and the bag laid onto that.  The little labels are printed out on the computer and then punched out and adhered.  I find it best to label everything as people can be reluctant to ask and will walk away without satisfying their curiosity.  Worried about the "hard sell" I guess - but I couldn't do that to save my life so they are safe from ME!!!  Only three days to go!  I had better get my skates on because once again ambition is outweighing time.

Baby cards

Today I have two cards.  Both feature the same poem - "ten little fingers" - but one is blue and one is pink.  They both use the same patterned paper too - just in blue and pink. Made a few others too so share those at a later date.  The poem came from the paper pack.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and marina mist c/s from SU, "lullaby" DSP from Kaisercraft.
Other - marina mist ribbon from SU, Kaisercraft pale blue rhinestones
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and rose red c/s from SU, "lullaby" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - "ice" paper roses from Kaisercraft, pale pink rhinestones from Kaisercraft
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, large zots

Off to try my hand at some more Halloween cards.

Happy crafting!

Birthday cards - 18th

My son turned 18 at the beginning of the month and I am finally getting around to sharing the cards his sister and I made for the occasion.  She downloaded several copies of the same picture from the Net and then cut them in layers to get a 3 D effect.  Without conferring we both chose black as his base card - probably because that's the predominant colour he wears!!

My card is more traditional and plays on his oft repeated quote in the days leading up (weeks actually!) " I will soon be 18".  He is also a musician - hence the music.  The black arrow was cut free hand and covered in crystal effects.

Supplies :
Paper - black c/s from stash, poppy red c/s from SU, "black and white timeless" DSP from Kaisercraft
Ink - black Memento, red Tombow marker
Tools - sponge dauber
Other - chipboard numbers, crystal effects
Adhesive - Tombow adhesive (to cover chipboard), snail, dimensionals, tiny foam dots

Only another two weeks and my daughter turns 16.  Hopefully I can be quicker with a birthday post next time!

Happy crafting!

Red and green

A simple red and green card today.  I keep coming back to that combo because it is such a traditional set but there are so many variations of it that you can never get bored!  I used a punch to create the wreath and the stamp was hand-coloured then breathed on before stamping.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white, pear pizzaz, old olive (wreath) and poppy parade from SU
Stamp - (very old) Stampworld F119 Merry Christmas
Ink - old olive marker from SU, red Tombow marker
Tools - 2 step bird punch from SU (leaves only)
Other - red rhinestones from Kaisercraft, red ribbon from stash
Adhesive - snail

Sunday today and very warm.  Love it! Have done all the washing and after I have done the floors I will feel that I can sit and craft without guilt!  Christmas tags today and if I have time a couple of baby cards.

Happy crafting!

Snow swirled/season of joy

I decided to try a monochromatic card for a change.  Well almost - it technically has two colours if you count the white!!  I stamped the card front randomly with two different stamps then layered the ribbon and sentiment over the top.  The sentiment is popped and highlighted with Kindyglitz (suprise, suprise!!)  I should probably take out shares in Kindyglitz!

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and crumb cake c/s from SU
Stamps- "snow swirled" and "season of joy" (sentiment) from SU
Ink - crumb cake from SU
Other - ribbon from stash, Kindyglitz "crystalina"
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

A small break between exams but lots of study. Maths on Tuesday then another weeks break. I don't know whether it's better that it's drawn out or if they were all close together.  He seems to be holding up okay so I guess that's the main thing! It's lovely and warm here so we had a BBQ tonight.  YUM! I love BBQs and salad.  Everything tastes better on a BBQ (except icecream - reminded my daughter)  Tomorrow will be housework and crafting - another Spring stall next weekend and I want to try my hand at making some Christmas decorations.  It's also a couple of days before Halloween so I am going to make some treat boxes of sweets for fun.  Enjoy your weekend - hope it's relaxing and fun.

Happy crafting!

Snow day cards

Both these cards were made using Crate Paper "snow day" paper for the fussy cut images. They both also use the "top note" Sizzix die from Stampin up (SU). I went around the edges of them with a white gel pen for some faux stitching. The die gives you the effect anyway but I wanted it to stand out a little more!  A little Kindyglitz and I am happy! Some elements are popped.

Supplies:
Paper - red textured c/s from stash, old olive and whisper white c/s from SU, Crate Paper "snow day" DSP
Stamp - unknown but very old!
Ink - old olive and rich razzleberry from SU, white gel pen
Tools - Cuttlebug, "top note" Sizzix die from SU
Other - "crystalina" by Kindyglitz
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

More Christmas cards tomorrow (it is the season!) but I am wanting to try my hand at some baby cards so keep your eye out!!  Off now to do the potatoes for tonight's roast chicken.  Eat yummy food, craft a lot and laugh often!

More boxes

Morning all! Today I have a couple of boxes that are card sized.  I got the measurements and instructions off Stamping 411 blog.  Great resource for card and off the page basics. I may "tart" them up a little more - I am not sure.  The one on the blog had a lovely big flower on it.  Maybe I will add a bow!!

Supplies:
Paper- riding hood red and marina mist c/s from SU, "letters to santa" DSP from SU
Tools - scoreboard
Adhesive - sticky strip, snail

Supplies:
Paper - peach parfait and pear pizzazz c/s from SU, "letters to santa" DSP from SU

Well my son has completed the English section of his exams.  Nothing more til Maths next week. We haven't had the symbolic tossing off the study notes yet - but I think he will be doing it with some gusto!!
Card making and baking are on the agenda today. Hope your day is great.

Link (as promised) and a box

Well not a link as such -  but rather an address.  The place for the origami cube tutorial is www.origami instructions.com  My daughter then just searched for cube.

Here's another box - a 3 x 3.  I tried a new technique on this one. I coloured the stamped images with chalks then covered them with crystal effects.  They look like little enamelled tiles.  I like the effect and will do some more experimenting with it and brighter colours.  The box base is stamped and sponged and the edge of the lid is sponged and trimmed with crochet lace and 1/8" grosgrain ribbon.  The tiles were adhered with dimensionals.

Supplies:
Paper - (tiles) cream marle c/s from stash, (box) old olive c/s, (lid) ridinghood red c/s both from SU
Stamp - Unknown for tiles, "french foliage" from SU for the box base
Ink - chocolate chip from SU, chalks from SU
Tools - Martha Stewart scoreboard, sponge dauber
Other - crochet trim and old olive ribbon from SU, crystal effects
Adhesive - sticky strip, dimensionals

Origami cubes

My daughter loves doing origami and she found a tutorial for these cubes on the Net and made some for the stall.  I think they are fabulous (not biased at all!!).  We co-ordinated them with beads and ribbon to create a hanging ornament for your tree, or window ,or where ever.  I think the papers were Kaisercraft.  The ribbons and beads are from our collective stashes. Yes - my daughter now has a stash too!  Your papers need to be square and you need 6.  I don't know the link to the tutorial; but I will ask when she gets home from school and post it for you.

Leave a comment if you like.  Love to hear from people out there.

Christmas cards for the Troops

I attended the annual Christmas cards for the Troops day on Saturday and managed to make 15 cards.  I did three designs (5 of each).  It was heaps of fun and I came away with many ideas and inspiration from the other women (and one man) attending the event.  For photos go to the Paper Lady blog (on side bar).

Supplies:
Paper - old olive, elegant eggplant and gold c/s from SU, "limited edition"  DSP from SU
Stamp - "delightful decorations" from SU
Ink - elegant eggplant from SU
Tools - ornament punch from SU, small scallop scissors
Other - Kindyglitz "crystalina", tinsel ribbon from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

This one uses some old stamps from many moons ago.  The tree was fussy cut then stuck directly to the card base.  The sentiment was stamped then punched.  I then punched a second label in red, cut it in half and stuck it to the back of the cream label.  This was then popped up over the tree.

Supplies:
Paper - cream marle and red textured c/s from stash
Stamp - (text background) Rubber stamp company "EG6 Merry Christmas", (tree) Stampendous "Christmas tree", (sentiment) "snow swirled" by SU
Ink - (text) crumb cake, (tree) kiwi kiss, (sentiment) cherry cobbler -  all from SU
Tools - decorative label punch from SU
Other - real red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon from SU
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

This one also uses a very old stamp and some retired SU DSP.  I also tried my hand at colouring using pastels.  The frame is a stamp with words in the middle but I cut them out with a craft knife to create the frame.  The frame is popped but the sentiment label is stuck direct to the DSP.  I sponged around the edges of the frame with ink to soften the contrast.

Supplies:
Paper - cream marle c/s from stash, crumb cake c/s from SU, "jolly holiday" DSP from SU (ret)
Stamp - (frame) PSX "K-1406", (sentiment) "snow swirled" from SU
Ink  - crumb cake and cherry cobbler from SU, Derwent pastels
Tools - decorative label punch from SU, craft knife, sponge dauber
Other - Kindyglitz  "aztec gold"
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

I am making more multiples this week to finish off my target of 40 cards for the Troops. Shall post them when I am finished!  Hope the week is going well.  We are having glorious weather at the moment - time to dust off the BBQ!  My son is also doing his final school exams - he turned 18 a couple of weeks ago.  I find it hard to believe my tiny baby boy all those years ago is now a man!  It goes soooo fast!!!  My daughter turns 16 in a couple of weeks too.  I still feel that I am playing catch up to where they really are in their lives.  They're still my babies! ( not in a morbid sense - but rather I want to protect them from life's hazards but they have reached an age where I really have to let them get on with it).  I'll always be their mum though - with all the imperfections of being an ordinary human being - not Supermum anymore.

Happy crafting!
