Scrapturday # 12 - 2012

The paper scraps used in this card are "everyday enchantment" DSP from Stampin Up (SU) from the now finished Sale-a-bration promotion.  The paper pack was so delicious that I can't bear to throw even the tiniest scrap out!!
I also used some fancy scissors, dry embossing and sponging on this card. The circles and sentiment are popped.

Supplies:
Paper - lucky limeade, bashful blue and very vanilla c/s from SU, "everyday enchantment" DSP from SU
Stamp - "bring on the cake" from SU
Ink - kiwi kiss (ret) stamp pad from SU
Tools - creative memories circle punch, large scallop scissors, scallop oval punch from SU, Big Shot, "swiss dots" embossing folder from Cuttlebug
Other - green ribbon from Craft Queen
Adhesive - snail, double sided tape, sticky strip, dimensionals

An absolutely gorgeous autumn day here.  My mum is down in Sydney for the weekend and my daughter and I met with her and my niece for breakfast.  Mum had bought her dog down with her so our dog Schnitzel and her dog Charlie got to see each other for the first time in three years.  Schnitzel was so over- excited that he scared poor Charlie!!  They soon settled down and communed under the table whilst we had our breakfast.  A lovely morning.  Mum also delivered some hydrangea plants that she had struck for me and some primulas and a strawberry plant.  My garden is starting to take shape!!  Off to do some crafting now.  The kids are off with their dad for the afternoon and dinner so I have some free time!

Happy crafting!

Good Luck

As you know my daughter has been doing exams this past week and has one more to go.  I made her this card to wish her luck, peace and calmness. I had seen quite a few rainbow inspired cards out there in the blogosphere and rainbows are one of Claudia's favourite things.  She made up the word "rainbowlogical" to describe things being put into rainbow order eg 'I have sorted my pencils into rainbowlogical order'.  So it was a no-brainer what sort of card I had to make for her!!

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white from SU
Stamp - "so happy for you" from SU
Ink - poppy parade, peach parfait, daffodil delight, pear pizzaz, tempting turquoise, lovely lilac (ret) and basic black stamp pads from SU
Tools - modern label punch from SU
Other - old olive grosgrain ribbon from SU
Adhesive - sticky strip, dimensionals

Hope you have a rainbow in your day.

Happy crafting!

Easter by three

It's nearly Easter so I thought it was time for a few more Easter cards from the "everybunny" set from Stampin Up (SU)

This one is very simple and I feel it could also be a baby card at a pinch. I punched out the DSP then adhered it to some very vanilla c/s that I then trimmed.  I sponged the edges with peach parfait ink.  The chick image is hand coloured, fussy cut and popped as well as the whole panel.  The bow was tied separately and attached with glue dots.

Supplies:
Paper - peach parfait and very vanilla c/s from SU, "everyday enchantment" DSP from SU
Stamp - "everybunny" from SU
Ink - basic black and peach parfait stamp pads from SU, various Tombow markers
Tools - decorative label punch, sponge dauber
Other - marina mist satin ribbon from SU
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals, glue dots

This card uses an embossing folder called "floral borders" from Cuttlebug.  I embossed the panel separately and then adhered it with double sided tape.  I used the braid to hide the join.  This whole piece was then mounted on lilac c/s.  The bunny image was stamped on some scrap, hand coloured and fussy cut then popped up on the card front.

Supplies:
Paper - lucky limeade and whisper white c/s from SU, lilac c/s from stash
Stamp - "everybunny" from SU
Ink - basic black stamp pad from SU, various Tombow markers
Tools - Big Shot, "floral borders" embossing folder from Cuttlebug
Other - braid from Spotlight
Adhesive - snail, double sided tape, sticky strip, dimensionals

This card uses some scoring to add texture.  The sentiment image was stamped, punched then mounted on a scrap of hot pink c/s that I then trimmed to create a border.  The bunny image was stamped on scrap, hand coloured, fussy cut and popped. I scored four lines across the top of the card to echo the braid and add texture.

Supplies:
Paper - lucky limeade and whisper white c/s from SU, hot pink c/s from stash
Stamp - "everybunny" from SU, "occasional greetings" from SU
Ink - basic black and pixie pink (ret) stamp pads from SU, various Tombow markers
Tools - Martha Stewart score board, decorative label punch from SU
Other - braid from Spotlight
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

Well it's the end of the week here.  Off to the markets tomorrow - first try out of our collapsible all weather gazebo.  Will take photos and share later.  Have a great one.

Happy crafting!

Mothers day - purple

I had fun using up some scraps of "utopia collection" from Kaisercraft to make some Mothers Day cards.  In purple - a colour of strength for women.

Supplies:
Paper - elegant eggplant, tempting turquoise, certainly celery c/s from SU, "utopia collection" DSP from Kaisercraft
Stamp - "teeny tiny sentiments" from SU, "clearly for you" from SU
Ink - elegant eggplant stamp pad from SU
Tools - decorative label, extra large ovel, scallop oval punches from SU, sponge dauber
Other - crystal effects
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

This card uses the same paper stack and the die cuts come from the paper pad too. The centre medallion is covered in crystal effects (a 3D medium) to give it the look of an epoxy sticker.

Supplies:
Paper - elegant eggplant, tempting turquoise, certainly celery c/s from SU, "utopia collection" from Kaisercraft
Stamp - "teeny tiny sentiments"  from SU
Ink - elegant eggplant stamp pad from SU
Tools - sponge dauber
Other - crystal effects
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

A beautiful sunny day here - in contrast to yesterday's rain.  It caused the drain to overflow in my laundry - the main waste drain so stinky, stinky.  The plumber has just been and the cleaners are due to come this afternoon to dry the carpet etc.  I think there will be a bit of deodorising in order too!!  This is the third time it has happened in the five years we have lived here.  The tree roots get into the drains and block them.  I am starting to have a love/ hate relationship with the trees around our complex. Still more of a love though as I love nothing better than being able to look out on green.  Still a little bit of the country girl in me after all these years in the city!  Have a great day.

Merry Monday # 3 - 2012

A glittery effort for this week's Merry Monday.  I realised I hadn't used my Kindyglitz for a while so I thought I would give it a whirl on this week's card!  It has chalking, dry embossing and fussy cutting as well as the glitter highlights.  I now officially have three Christmas cards made.  I think I had better make multiples from now on as there is Christmas cards for the Troops as well as my stalls to cater for.  It may seem a long way away but we are almost into the fourth month of the year already and the way my chaotic life goes anything could happen!  AAAARgh!!! enough panic about what ifs!

Supplies:
Paper - red textured c/s from stash, whisper white c/s from SU
Stamp - PSX K-1406 (an oldie but a goodie)
Ink - crumb cake stamp pad from SU, chalks from SU and generic box
Tools - Big Shot, "snow dots" embossing folder from Cuttlebug
Other - "crystalina" from Kindyglitz
Adhesive - double sided tape, dimensionals

My daughter started her end of term exams today and yesterday my son handed in his first uni assignment.  Holidays soon and they are off to the US and Canada with their dad and his partner.  They are really looking forward to it and I am hoping for some crafting goodies upon their return.  I will miss them but knowing that they are having fun makes up for not having them by my side.  Hopefully I will get lots of crafting done and have lots of new creations to show them! (and you).

Happy crafting!

Scrapturday # 11 - 2012

Hello. Here is this week's Scrapturday effort.  I used as inspiration a picture from the Stampin Up (SU) catalogue (the hearts), and the idea for the paper loops came from the latest edition of Australian Cardmaking and Stamping.  They had a feature on using up scraps and I liked the paper loops so I used them!!  I have gone around the edge of the cream panel with a turquoise marker to add some faux stitching. The hearts are scored and folded to give dimension and are attached with glue dots.

Supplies:
Paper - purple c/s and cream marle c/s from stash, certainly celery and tempting turquoise c/s from SU, "utopia collection" DSP from Kaisercraft
Ink - tempting turquoise marker from SU
Tools - 1" heart punch from Creative Memories
Adhesive - snail, glue dots

We have been having lovely mild autumn days lately - such a change from the rainy summer. I am really enjoying my morning walks with Schnitzel.  I am getting ready for winter by knitting some knee rugs for the couches.  I got rid of our oil filled column heater because it was just too expensive to run.  Our complex does not have gas connected so the only alternatives are electric (very expensive to run) or gas bottle heaters.  I am going to see if we can get away with just wearing an extra layer or two and knee rugs.  Really we have very mild winters here in Sydney and we probably just need to toughen up a bit!!  I will keep you posted on our experiment.

Happy crafting!

Coffee!!!!!!

My favourite addiction!  Here are a couple of cute coffee inspired cards to brighten your day.  Now let it be known I also do like tea but more as a peaceful "ceremony" type event - tea with my girlfriends using nice china and pretty cakes. I also drink green tea for digestion and relaxation. Coffee is more my "go to" active drink.

Enough about me - on to the cards!  They both use the "morning cup" set from Stampin Up (SU).  This first one I lightly drew an arc onto the card front and stamped the mug image around it. Then gently erased the pencil mark.  I also stamped further images on some scrap.  I coloured the hearts and fussy cut the scrap images and popped up every second image on the arc.  The sentiment is stamped direct to the card front and reads - "caffeine isn't a drug it's a vitamin"

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s from SU
Stamp - "morning cup" from SU
Ink - chocolate chip stamp pad from SU, red Tombow marker
Adhesive - dimensionals

This card uses the mug image again but this time I coloured it completely.  The sentiment is popped and reads - " a morning without coffee is like sleep"  Too true!  I drew little stitch lines around the edge of the sentiment panel with a brown marker.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white from SU
Stamp - "morning cup" from SU
Ink - early espresso stamp pad from SU, various Tombow markers
Tools - decorative label punch from SU
Adhesive - dimensionals

Well that's it for today.  Off to finish Scrapturday # 11 so I can post it tomorrow.  Had a very successful gardening stint with my friends yesterday and the yards look lovely.  My Mum has promised me some hydrangea cuttings next weekend so that is very exciting.  I love hydrangeas and mum has some truly beautiful ones in her garden.  The football game we went to last night was very entertaining and a great start was made by the newest team in the competition.  Everyone was happy and there was a great atmosphere at the stadium. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I hope you get some crafting time.

Happy crafting!

Doily cards

Today's offering is a couple of doily stamp cards.  I did one as a congratulations card and one as a wedding card.

This card is a wedding card using the same technique of creating a background.  I used more of a colour contrast this time.

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s from SU
Stamp - "teeny tiny sentiments" from SU, "stella and rose" from My Minds Eye
Ink - bordering blue (ret) and crumb cake stamp pads from SU
Tools - decorative label punch from SU, sponge dauber

Beautiful weather here today and tonight we are going to the first ever game of AFL (australian football) between two Sydney based teams.  It's the launch of the second team in Sydney.  My son is an AFL umpire and we take a keen interest in the game.  Should be fun.  Enjoy your weekend.

Get well cards

I borrowed Karen's "word play" set to make a couple of Get Well cards as I had none in my stock for the markets.  I tried to keep them fairly neutral (neither male nor female).  They both utilise old stamps.

Kitchen Tea cards

Due to illness this week's Merry Monday has been cancelled.  Sorry.
Instead I have this pair of cards for you to see. Kitchen tea cards made with " morning cup"  from Stampin Up (SU)

This first card I stamped the pile of tea cups four times on the card base and another two on some scrap.  The two scrap images were fussy cut and popped on the main image.  The images are coloured with Tombow and SU markers.  The sentiment panel is also popped and I drew little hearts all around the scalloped edge.

Paper - whisper white and lucky limeade c/s from SU
Stamp - "morning cup" from SU
Ink - chocolate chip stamp pad from SU, Tombow and SU markers
Tools - scallop oval punch and large oval punch from SU
Adhesive - dimensionals

This card uses a lot of fussy cutting and all the images are popped.

Scrapturday # 10 - 2012

Karen taught us this fabulous technique at Stamp and Scrap club yesterday.  It's a super way to use up scraps and make something that looks really complex but isn't really.  A bit fiddly but so worth it!!  I even used scraps for the flower.

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s from SU, "lap of luxury" DSP from SU
Stamp -"teeny tiny sentiments" from SU
Ink - Tombow marker
Tools - Paper cutter, Big Shot, "tattered floral" from Sizzix by Tim Holtz
Other - antique brad from SU
Adhesive - snail, multi purpose adhesive sheet from SU (you could also use Jac paper), glue dots

This one is off to one of my very good friends whose birthday is this friday.  My daughter made a couple of these too and when she finishes her cards I will post them so you can see how different the pattern looks depending on the papers used.  If you want to learn how to do it give Karen a "buzz" on her blog - Paper Lady ( on the side bar).

Happy crafting!

Green for St Patricks!!

Thought I would give you a green offering in honour of St Patricks day.  This card will go in a category on my stall called Encouraging. I believe that the people in our lives sometimes need a little encouragement from us -and we don't tell them often enough sometimes.(That's my little soapbox rant for the day!)

The paper used is a Kaisercraft one called "Chapter One".  Lots of lovely fresh greens and blues with a dash of black. I popped up the sentiment panel.

Supplies:
Paper - lucky limeade c/s from SU, "chapter one"  DSP from Kaisercraft
Tools - Big Shot, "spots" embossing folder from Quikcutz
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

Another rainy day here but that didn't deter us from Stamp and Scrap club.  We learnt a fabulous technique that will use up those pesky pieces of 12 x 12 that are two small to use on a scrap page but too big for a card.  Will finish mine tonight and post tomorrow for this week's Scrapturday offering.  Enjoy your Saturday night.

Happy crafting!

This couple of cards come to you courtesy of Velvet Ensemble from Kaisercraft.  It's a paper pad of theatre inspired designs and suitable for both male and female cards.  Very lush. I fussy cut the main images and popped them up.

Stamp - "happiest birthday wishes" from SU
Ink - cajun craze and crumb cake (for sponging) stamp pads from SU
Tools - decorative label punch from SU, sponge dauber
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, small foam dots

This one uses the same paper designs in a different orientation.  The arrow is one of the die cuts from the paper pad.

Paper - soft suede, basic black and very vanilla c/s from SU, "velvet ensemble" DSP from Kaisercraft
Stamp - "happiest birthday wishes" from SU
Ink - cajun craze stamp pad from SU

We have managed to string together a few sunny days but autumn is definitely in the air.  Love the change of seasons and have never grown out of the secret delight of crunching leaves when they fall.  But now I am an adult I have the extra duty of also sweeping them up - don't enjoy that as much!!  Have a great day.

Merry Monday # 2 - 2012

Sorry this is late.  Life got in the way!!  I have used an old stamp on today's project.  It's just too beautiful to get rid of.  It's hand coloured with markers, fussy cut and popped.  I used double sided tape to adhere the embossed panel so the embossing didn't get squished.  The sentiment label is made by stamping on the white, punching it out and then punching a second piece in the red.  You cut the red piece in half, apply adhesive to the back of the white and adhere the red pieces to suit.

Supplies:
Paper - dark red c/s from stash ( SU colour would be cherry cobbler), whisper white c/s from SU
Stamp - PSX K2046 (from many moons ago), "teeny tiny sentiments" from SU
Ink - early espresso and cherry cobbler stamp pads from SU, various Tombow and SU markers
Tools - Big Shot, "snowflake" embossing folder from Cuttlebug, modern label punch from SU
Adhesive - snail, double sided tape, dimensionals

Back tomorrow with some birthday cards.  Have a great day.

Happy crafting!

Second installment of Balmain markets yesterday was not as successful as the first but I guess you can't have everything go your way all the time!!  Have a three week break to restock then back into the Easter rush.  My kids go to America and Canada straight after Easter for a holiday with their dad and his partner so I will be able to do lots of crafting then and indulge my passion for fish dinners!

Happy crafting!

Pastel Baby

This is a PSX stamp from ages ago but it's so pretty I can't bear to part with it.  Depending on how you colour it - or not - it can look very different.  This is a pastel version.  Could count as a one layer wonder!  I surprise myself!!

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white from SU
Stamp - PSX "baby"
Ink - crumb cake stamp pad from SU, various Tombow markers

And that's it - probably the shortest supply list I have ever done.

Today's project is to make some more 2 x 2 boxes with tissue paper flowers on top.  I should be able to stay on task as I won't be tempted by the great outdoors because it's pouring with rain.  My back courtyard is under water and when I went out to get my coffee the streets were covered with gushing water and I copped a shower (three actually) from passing cars - so what with my usual bathroom ablutions I am now extra, extra clean!! Ha Ha!  I was so soaked by the time I got home I had to get changed immediately.  My shoes had water in them as well.  See what a coffee addiction can do to you!!  All that aside, I am now warm and dry and sipping aforesaid coffee and really enjoying it!  Hope you have a good day.

Happy crafting!

Merry Monday # 1

Finally got myself organised!! This card has already been ear-marked to send to my mother's dog for Christmas.  The stamp set is a magazine freebie and I can't remember the name of the magazine - I get three each month and two of them have very similar names!  It's a clear mount set and is from last Christmas.  It has images of dogs doing Christmassy things.  The sentiment reads - Santa please define "naughty".  The sentiment and image panels are popped.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and riding hood red c/s from SU
Stamp - magazine freebie
Ink - basic black stamp pad from SU
Tools - modern label punch from SU
Other - red tinsel fibre from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

Another challenge I would like to set myself is one that was running on Facebook last year called 52 weeks of mail.  The idea was to send a card or letter every week of the year.  There were variations on it all over the Blogosphere.  I think I will start my challenge this week with the card I am sending my niece for her birthday.  She lives in Brisbane with her mum (my brother (her dad) was killed in a hit and run in 2010)  so we don't get to see much of her.  She is turning 11 and is a bright and creative young girl. I have to post it today so I am off to put the final touches to it - sparkles!  She is a sequin junkie like me.  Do love a good sparkle!!

Scrapturday # 8 - 2012

On today's effort I used a retired SU punch, some embossing and some chalk.  I am quite pleased with it!  I used double sided tape to adher the embossed piece as with snail you have to press down and drag (like a roller) and it has the potential to flatten embossing.

Supplies:
Paper - crumb cake c/s from SU, burgundy c/s from stash, "hippy girl" DSP from Kaisercraft
Stamp - "petite pairs" from SU
Ink - burgundy Tombow marker, SU chalk
Tools - Big Shot, "framed tulips" embossing folder from SU, sponge dauber
Adhesive - snail, double sided tape

Tomorrow will have the Merry Monday post then some more Easter cards and some birthday cards will fill out the week.  Have to make some more stock for the markets on Saturday so making to order rather than just playing around and seeing what comes up!  Good discipline for me and hopefully it will get me in the mode where I can attempt some of the challenges out there in Blogland.

Happy crafting!

Girl's birthday

Today's effort is a card for a girl's birthday. I wanted to achieve something bright and cheerful and young.  Hopefully I have succeeded!

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white and pink pirouette c/s from SU, Bright pink c/s from CM, "cheerful treat" DSP from SU
Stamp - "bring on the cake" from SU
Ink - pixie pink (ret) stamp pad from SU, various Tombow markers
Tools - large scallop circle punch, scallop circle punch and oval scallop punch from SU, sponge dauber
Other - hot pink ribbon from Spotlight
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

Off now to work on this week's Scrapturday (what I had intended to post I forgot to photograph and it sold at yesterday's market!).  I also have to work on my Merry Monday creation too.  Busy, busy - but much more fun than housework! Though to be fair I have done a morning's worth of chores so I feel it's okay to "play" this afternoon.  One thing is guaranteed - the housework never expires or goes out of date.

Happy crafting!

A lady's birthday!

This is definitely a girlie girl card! Not CAS at all - sometimes it's fun to go over the top! The sentiment panel is sponged and popped. The pleated "ribbon" is paper and is held together with sticky strip (very strong double sided tape).

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s from SU, "everyday enchantment" DSP from SU
Stamp - "fresh vintage" and "teeny tiny sentiments" from SU
Ink - crumb cake stamp pad from SU
Tools - scallop oval punch from SU
Other - green organza ribbon from SU, blue paper rose from Kaisercraft.
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

It's late friday night here and after a day of rain I am hoping for only light sprinkles tomorrow as it's off to the markets I go.  Lots of towns in the country are facing flood conditions and lots of roads are cut - even here on the outskirts of the city.  For once town and country are united in their call for NO MORE RAIN!  Last night on the news they said that up to 75% of the state of NSW was under water.

Happy crafting!
