Scalloped hearts

Time for another less traditional one!  This card is quite busy and I am not sure whether I like it totally but my daughter does so I am trying not to be too self critical.

Supplies:
Paper - lucky limeade, ridinghood red and pink pirouette c/s from SU, retired DSP from SU
Stamp - "baroque motifs" from SU
Ink - kiwi kiss (ret) from SU
Tools - Big shot, "scallop heart of hearts" embosslit by Sizzix for SU
Other - "pearl" pearls from Kaisercraft, pale pink ribbon from Spotlight
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

Just noticed there is a pearl missing from below cherish! Will have to fix that before bagging that's for sure.  Will be working the next few days on some party favours and treat boxes for Valentines.

Happy crafting!

Scrapturday #3 2012

Well I have just about used up all my blue scraps for the moment with this card. I used the scalloped heart of hearts again but this time I sponged the edges.  I also sponged the scalloped edge to the card to emphasise it. The centre heart is popped

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s from SU, retired DSP from SU
Stamp - "life definitions" from SU (ret)
Ink - crumb cake from SU
Tools - small scallop scissors, Big shot, "scallop heart of hearts" embosslit by Sizzix for SU, sponge dauber
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

It's 5 am on Saturday and I am hanging out til 7 am when I can go and purchase a coffee.  I hate not having a coffee machine. Plunger coffee just doesn't "do it" in the same way as espresso!  I am saving my "shekels" to purchase a new one but til then I am at the mercy of the local coffee shops opening hours ( which are very generous  - I am just an addict!!)

Purple Valentine

Can't have Valentine's without my favourite colour!  With this card I used the Martha Stewart scoreboard to score some lines for texture and interest. I did them down the sentiment side and also down the heart side.  I also sponged the edges of the card.  The red heart is a scalloped heart of hearts piece stuck behind the frame.

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla and riding hood red c/s from SU, purple c/s from stash
Stamp - "petite pairs" from SU
Ink - cherry cobbler and perfect plum from SU
Tools - Martha Stewart score board, Big shot, Sizzix sizzlets "love" set. "scalloped heart of hearts" embosslit by Sizzix for SU, sponge dauber
Adhesive - snail

You can see on the larger purple heart the lovely scalloped edge and swiss dots that I spoke about the other day.  Altogether too cute!

We got the university offers today and my son got into a Bachelor of Media Studies - just what he wanted!  Very proud of him.

More traditional Valentine

Not totally traditional but a little more so!  At least the card is red!!  Sorry the white is so glary but I had to use the flash.  The sentiment and the top right heart are popped.  I sponged the edges of the sentiment panel.

Supplies:
Paper - riding hood red and whisper white c/s from SU, retired SU DSP
Stamp- "happy everything" from SU
Ink - cherry cobbler from SU
Tools - Big Shot, scalloped heart of hearts embosslit from Sizzix for SU, heart border punch from Fiskars, scallop circle punch from SU, sponge dauber
Other - tiny red twine from Craft Queen
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

The scalloped heart of hearts is so cute.  It has a scalloped edge and the inside is all swiss dots - very pretty. I have made some in plain card stock to make into cards so I will be showcasing those soon. Hope your week is being good to you.

Happy crafting!

Valentines #1

I know Valentines are supposed to be red but I saw the idea for the heart in the SU Catalogue and just had to have a go!!  I also went over the embossed background with white chalk to give it more definition.  I promise some more traditional Valentines - just not yet!

Supplies:
Paper - lucky limeade and whisper white c/s from SU
Stamp - "itty bitty bits" from SU
Ink - pixie pink, lovely lilac, kiwi kiss (all ret) dafffodil delight and tempting turquoise from SU, white chalk
Tools - Big Shot, "victoria" embossing folder from Cuttlebug, full heart punch from SU, Itty bitty bits punches from SU, sponge dauber
Other - "pearl" pearls from Kaisercraft, pink ribbon from Spotlight
Adhesive - sticky strip, double-sided tape, glue dots, dimensionals

Can't believe it's less than a month to Valentine's day and even less before my daughter goes back to school.  My son won't start uni til March but it's a whole different routine from now on.  Now that my daughter is in senior school she has free periods/ late starts so the last fifteen years of nine am starts for the both of them is a-changing.  It seems to have been a long time and a short time simultaneously!

Now that I have more free time I hope to do more markets and start an Etsy shop. Onwards and upwards I say!

Scrapturday #2 2012

Blue scraps again for today's Scrapturday.  This time a card that somehow speaks wedding to me - maybe it's the pearls!

Supplies:
Paper - bashful blue and baja breeze c/s from SU, retired DSP scraps from SU
Other - latte pearls from Kaisercraft, beige ribbon from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, glue dots

My mojo has deserted me this week.  Every time I sit down to craft all I end up doing is "rearranging the deck chairs".  Think I will have to pull out some Mojo Monday sketches I have saved and give them a go.  Wish me luck!!

Happy crafting!

Scrapturday is back!

Here is the first Scrapturday offering for 2012.  I tried paper weaving for the first time because I had all these even pieces of different blues. Quite tricky and I will need some more practice to perfect it but I like the effect.  The only new piece of paper used was the card base - everything else has to be scraps.

Supplies:
Paper - bashful blue, whisper white and baja breeze c/s from SU, "urban garden" DSP scraps from SU, check paper from stash.
Stamp - "happiest birthday" from SU
Ink - not quite navy from SU
Adhesive - snail, glue dots and dimensionals

I will be crafting today to the sounds of the NFL playoffs.  My son is sports mad and my craft table and the tv are adjacent.  Luckily he doesn't have it too loud!  I also have to do some vacuuming but that will have to wait til after the games!  Hope your day is fun and not too much drudgery.

Happy crafting!

Buttons

I hadn't played with buttons for a while so I decided to have a go.  Love purple (it's my fave colour) so this paper and these buttons make a card that I would be happy to receive!

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s from SU, "botanical" DSP from Webster's pages.
Other - purple buttons from Beutron mixed bag.
Adhesive - snail, glue dots

Am re-organising my craft stash and taking stock to see what I need to replace or can renew to get ready for another busy crafting year.  Last year I was very good and tried hard to use up existing stash but I am now in the position where I do need to re-stock some things.  Will be disciplined though and make a list and stick to it - not be distracted by all that's bright and shiny in the shops!!!  Oh soooo hard!  I think I am a magpie or bower bird by nature! What's your weakness - paper or bling, dies or ribbons? (sign me up for all of them)

Flower images

Today's card features flower images from the Hunt and Gather set.  They are like botanical drawings and fit the camping theme that runs through the set.  The middle image is popped.  The yellow 'twine' is not quite twine and not quite embroidery floss.  I got it in a mixed bag of colours from Spotlight.

Supplies:
Paper - chocolate chip c/s from SU, dark green c/s from stash, "hunt and gather" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - yellow string(?) from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

had our first over 30 degree day yesterday for a long while. Had almost forgotten what summer was about!!  We dusted off the BBQ and then played a game of Man bites dog - a funny card game where you have to make headlines.  All in all a pleasant evening.  Hope yours was/ is too.

Hunt and Gather #2

Thought I'd share another of my masculine cards today.  It also features Hunt and Gather.  There are these great little cigarette card size images of bugs and flowers and fish.  Tomorrow's card will feature some flower images.

Supplies:
Paper - chocolate chip c/s from SU, "hunt and gather" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - string and circle clip from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

Another lovely summers day here. Have been out early to water the garden and now going to tackle washing down the kitchen cupboards ready for them to be painted.  At the moment they are a hideous yellow and I am going to paint them white. Panther our cat is relaxing in a pool of sunshine.  His coat is really glossy and he is shining in the sun.  Hope you have a good day.

Hunt and Gather #1

Thought I would start off the New Year by building up my stocks of masculine cards.  Also need to replenish just about everything except floral cards - went a bit overboard with those last year!!  First market for the year is in just under a month so I have to get busy!

Today's card uses the 6 x 6 pad "Hunt and Gather" from Kaisercraft.  Tried to be a bit clever and have things off centre.  Let me know what you think.

Supplies:
Paper - chocolate chip c/s from SU, "hunt and gather" DSP from Kaisercraft
Other - linen thread from SU
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

The weather is finally summer warm and we are soaking it up!! My herb garden is starting to take off and my mum is striking me some hydrangeas so I am very excited.  The very shady front yard is still bare but my resolution this year is to make it more "beautiful". I think ferns and hellebores are the plants of choice.  It's my mum's birthday next week so I am off now to make her an extra special card as I will have to have it in the post by friday.  Hope your week is going well.

Happy holiday

This is for a friend's mum who is going on a cruise mid January. CAS card.  Recovering from the worst cold I have had in ages - actually had to go and buy some decongestant!  Usually I just feel rotten for a day then all okay.  This has gone on for six days and showing no sign - as yet - of letting up!!  The kids have it too so we are a plague household.

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla and rich razzleberry from SU, "global" from 7 Gypsies
Stamp - "happy everything" from SU
Ink - black Tombow marker
Adhesive - snail

Had a great New Years Eve despite the cold.  Saw my mum and sister, her partner and my niece and her husband.  They are having a baby due in June so the family is expanding yet again.  Very exciting.  I will be a great aunt - or is it grand aunt?

Hope the New Year is being good and your resolutions stay resolute!
