Home made background

Hello again.  I tried making my own background again with this card.  I used "elements of style" and crumb cake ink to stamp randomly onto the card front.  I then tied bakers twine around it and layered the sentiment panel on top.  Easy peasy!!

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s, "everyday enchantment" DSP
Stamp - "elements of style" (background), "word play" (sentiment)
Ink - crumb cake (background and sponging), chocolate chip (sentiment)
Tools - Big Shot, framelits, sponge dauber
Other - calypso coral bakers twine
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

My son went back to uni today and is very happy with his course allocations and timetable.  I am busy this week getting ready for another round of stalls for the new month.  Also have to go back to the dentist yet again (4th visit in 6 weeks!) to get a bridge repaired that keeps breaking. No, I am not chowing down on nuts and minties - on friday it broke as I was eating some vegemite toast!!!  Some of you would say 'serves you right for eating vegemite' -  but I am an aussie born and bred and so grew up on the stuff!

Have a happy crafting week and congratulations to all the athletes from all around the world who are competing at the Games.

Happy crafting!

Scrapturday - July 2012

Hello!  Today's card was made using bits and pieces left over from other projects. I can't bear to throw anything away that I could possibly use one day.  Luckily this "obsession" is only relevant to my papercrafting!!  But my children still feel that my crafting takes over the living room.  They may have a point but at least I am being creative rather than "House and Garden" obsessive!

That's my justification and I'm sticking to it.

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s, "everyday enchantment" DSP (ret)
Stamp - "elementary elegance" (SAB - 2012)
Ink- crumb cake (frame and sponging), chocolate chip (sentiment)
Tools - Big Shot, "beautiful wings" embosslit, label punch (ret), decorative label punch
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

Sunday tomorrow and my daughter and I are having a Christmas crafting day.  Hope you get to do some crafting too.

Happy crafting!
Cheers

Hoping for a sunny day tomorrow so I can take some photos of what I have been working on this week.  Please please please Santa bring me a daylight lamp!!

Embossing and chalk

Hi!  I have just spent a lovely restful Sunday with my children.  I was supposed to try a new market but when I got up this morning it was raining so I pulled the plug.  The day ended up turning out relatively dry but when I had to decide at 6 am it looked yucky.

Yesterday I went to Stamp and Scrap club where Karen demonstrated a fab new technique - acrylic block stamping. I made some cards at the club and I have been experimenting at home.  I will share later in the week.

On to today's card!! I dry embossed some card stock then coloured it with chalks and ink using sponge daubers.  I then fussy cut the two flowers and layered them using dimensionals for depth.  The sentiment panel is fussy cut as well and popped up.

Supplies:
Paper - pink pirouette and very vanilla c/s from SU, "urban garden" DSP from SU (ret)
Stamp - "elementary elegance" from SU (sale-a-bration - 2012)
Ink - pear pizzaz and blushing bride from SU, crumb cake by SU for sponging, chalks
Tools - Big Shot, "manhattan flower" embossing folder by Sizzix for SU, sponge dauber
Other - "victoria" crochet trim from SU
Adhesive - snail, sticky strip, dimensionals

Hope you all have a good week and the sun shines on you and your loved ones.

Happy crafting!

Scrapturday is back!

Scrapturday returns with an offering using my favourite DSP of the year (so far!).  It's called
"everyday enchantment" and sadly is no longer available. Yes there are butterflies ( I just can't seem to stay away from them at the moment!).  I made some cards at scrap club today and out of the three I made , 1 had butterflies on it. Bring on Spring!!

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s from SU, "everyday enchantment" DSP from SU
Stamp - "elementary elegance" from SU (sale-a-bration 2012)
Ink - crumb cake from SU
Tools - Big Shot, "beautiful wings" embosslit from SU, decorative label punch from SU, postage stamp punch from SU, sponge dauber

The weather has turned cold again.  I am wearing two pairs of socks as I type!!  I know I am really being a wimp as it doesn't get near as cold here in Sydney as it does in other parts of Oz let alone the Northern Hemisphere!!

Enjoy your weekend and craft up a storm!!

Happy crafting!

Boy cards...as promised!!

I recently got this fabulous pack of DSP from SU called "well worn".  It has such lovely patterns and colours for making masculine cards. Last week at the markets I took it along as well as some pre-stamped sentiments and some punches and had a lovely time creating whilst manning the stall.  It created interest as well so I think I will do it again.

These are three of the cards I created that day.

I also sponged the sentiment panels to create a more grungy look.  The little anchor punch outs were from my friend Avril.

Supplies:
Paper - crumb cake, bashful blue(the anchor) and whisper white c/s from SU, "well worn" DSP from SU
Stamp - "word play" from SU
Ink - tempting turquoise from SU, crumb cake (sponging) from SU
Tools - decorative label punch from SU, sponge dauber
Other - anchor punch out from Avril
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

With this card I punched a label out of chocolate chip c/s then cut it in half and adhered the halves to the back of the sentiment panel.  It is then popped up on the card base.

Supplies:
Paper - crumb cake, whisper white and chocolate chip c/s from SU, "well worn" DSP from SU
Stamp - "word play" from SU
Ink - peach parfait from SU, crumb cake (sponging)
Tools - extra large oval punch and label punch from SU, sponge dauber
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

This card uses the anchors from Avril again and also shows some more of the fab patterns available in this paper pack.

Supplies:
Paper - chocolate chip, whisper white and bashful blue c/s from SU, "well worn" DSP from SU
Stamp - "word play" from SU
Ink - chocolate chip, crumb cake (sponging) from SU
Tools - extra large oval punch from SU, sponge dauber
Other - anchor punch outs from Avril
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals

Butterfly birthday

Good morning my readers.  It's a lovely crisp sunshiney day here and I have been for my morning walk to get coffee.  Mmmmmm.... coffee!  It makes everything alright.

Today's card is my first post on the Stampin' Up website but I thought it would be rude not to share it with you too.  I seem to be on a bit of a vintage binge at the moment but don't despair - boy cards tomorrow and not a flower or butterfly in sight!

The front panel was embossed and sponged. The bakers twine was wrapped around and then the whole panel was adhered to the card front with dimensionals.  The sentiment is popped too, as well as the butterflies. The little butterfly on the sentiment panel is stuck flat.

Supplies:
Paper - very vanilla c/s from SU, "everyday enchantment" DSP from SU
Stamp - "established elegance" from SU
Ink - poppy parade (sentiment) and crumb cake (sponging) both from SU
Tools - Big Shot, Tulip frame embossing folder from SU, beautiful wings embosslit from SU, scallop oval punch from SU, sponge dauber.
Other - lucky limeade bakers twine from SU
Adhesive, snail, dimensionals

Well I hope you have a great day and manage to fit some crafting time into your busy schedule.

Happy crafting!

Banner birthday

EEK! Yes it's me again.  Today's card is my take on the current trend of banners. They are hand cut and popped with dimensionals.  I drew little hearts all the way around the sentiment panel.

Supplies:
Paper - whisper white, old olive and pink pirouette c/s from SU, scraps of a retired DSP from SU
Stamp - "teeny tiny sentiments" from SU
Ink - pixie pink from SU (R), pixie pink marker from SU (R) - closest current colour would be melon mambo
Tools - Big Shot, framelits dies from SU, "adorning accents" embossing folder from SU, scallop oval punch from SU, large scallop scissors
Other - white embroidery floss from stash, hot pink rhinestones from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, mini glue dots

Another beautiful sunshiney day here.  It's still very crisp but it buoys the soul.  The winter bulbs are starting to bloom so Spring is not far away.  I love the first whiff of jasmine that heralds Spring!  Hope you have a lovely day and manage to squeeze in some crafting fun.

Happy crafting!

I'm back......

Hello, hello.  Many apologies for running off into my cave for so long without explanation!  I just felt totally and creatively worn out from illness.  But life is back on track!  I have made some necessary changes and my Mojo has returned.  I have also joined Stampin' Up as a demonstrator.  I realised that I was using a lot of their product ( it's so gorgeous!) and it made sense to join and get it at a discount.  I am what you would call a hobby demonstrator in that I am really just enabling my habit!!  I don't have the necessary chutzpah to make it in the direct selling world but I love creating and sharing.

This card was for the team meeting last month where the challenge was to use DSP.  I am very happy with the result.  This one looks a little wonky because it was the prototype.  I did keep one for myself but it sold before I could photograph it.  Same with another one I made for another challenge.  ( Note to self - get your act together!!).

I sponged the heck out of everything and the sentiment is popped.  In the interior of the card behind the butterflies I stamped a watermark of a floral flourish with versamark.

Supplies:
Paper - lucky limeade and very vanilla c/s from SU, "everyday enchantment" DSP from SU
Stamp - "a word for you" from SU, "fresh vintage" from SU
Ink - poppy parade from SU, crumb cake for sponging from SU, versa mark
Tools - Big Shot, butterfly embosslits from SU, scallop oval punch, framelits dies from SU, sponge dauber
Other - embroidery floss from stash
Adhesive - snail, dimensionals, mini glue dots

The kids are very well.  We are coming up to the end of mid-year break for my daughter and my son finishes his mid-year break at the end of the month.  They have been busy with their friends and Facebook.  The big news is I am now a great aunt! My niece had a little baby girl - Elektra Ann. Being totally unbiased I think she is gorgeous!!  The little family is doing well.

Well, enough from me.  Hope you are all well and those of you in North America get some relief from the heat soon.

Happy crafting!
Cheers
